Overview

Steinhafels is hiring!  The Home Damage Repair Technician is responsible for repairing accidental damage caused during furniture deliveries to customer homes. The role focuses primarily on drywall, moulding, trim, door frames, hardwood floors, and similar surfaces. When not working in customer homes, the technician will support furniture repair and finishing work in the Distribution Center.  This is a full time position and it pays $25-$27/hour.

Responsibilities

Preferred skills include:

  • Experience in drywall repair, trim/moulding, or general residential repair strongly preferred.
  • Ability to use pneumatic tools, power tools, and hand tools safely and effectively
  • Strong communication skills and customer-service mindset.
  • Ability to schedule and manage appointments independently.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and meet insurability requirements.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions.

Qualifications

Primary Duties

  • Visit customer homes to complete repairs on property damage caused during deliveries, including drywall patches, trim and moulding fixes, door and doorframe repairs, hardwood floor touch-ups, and occasional repairs to exterior trim such as mailboxes, posts, or light fixtures.
  • Contact customers and schedule repair appointments in a professional and timely manner.
  • Drive a company-supplied vehicle to job sites with required tools and repair materials.

 

Secondary Duties

  • Assist the Furniture Finishing Team in the Distribution Center with repairs of scratches, dents, crushed corners, and other damage to wood furniture
  • Perform general shop support as directed by the furniture repair and finishing team.

 

Equipment Used

  • Standard home repair tools (drywall repair kit, trim/moulding tools, floor repair tools).
  • Wood and furniture repair kits (Mohawk).
  • Pneumatic tools, power tools, and hand tools.
  • Computer/tablet and phone for scheduling and reporting.

 

Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Ability to occasionally lift objects over 75 lbs.
  • Comfort working in both customer homes and a warehouse environment.
